How do I resolve the “file is too large for destination file system” problem?

The file is too large for destination file system error occurs frequently while trying to transfer a large file onto a FAT32 formatted disk. Even though the disk may have sufficient space available, the limitation of FAT32 format is that it only supports files up to 4 GB in size. Make sure that the disk is FAT32 through the properties of the disk itself. You can transfer the file to an NTFS/exFAT formatted disk, or divide the file into multiple pieces. Formatting the disk is one of the solutions as well, but keep in mind that formatting will erase all the contents stored in the disk, so make sure to back them up before proceeding.
